    It looks like you used thread tape on the fitting where the hose first attaches to the adapter. This type of fitting does not seal on the thread, like the other fittings do, and thread tape shouldn't be used.

    Thank you!! I bought the three gas fittings that you recommended and used yellow tape. I used a GasOne 2106-05 5 ft regulator hose for $9.99 on Amazon. Checked for leaks. Memorial Day the temp only reached about 190°. Today, I had to dial it back as it was approaching 500°! What a freakin' difference!! All for about $20.00. I am so happy!!

    I was in the same predicament about a year after purchasing the Weber Q1200, like some people suggested, cleaned out the burner with a wire wheel than cleared the holes with a wire that I thought was of the approximate diameter of the burner tube holes but didn't really solve the problem so bought a new regulator assembly and was really pissed when the burner still didn't completely light or if it did, took forever and struggled to get to 375F, lived with it for a couple of years and finally decided to get to the bottom of this issue, reamed out the old orifice a few thousands of an inch on the spare gas valve but same results, reinstalled the undrilled orifice and decided to pay more attention to the burner, used the exact sized tapered reamer and cleared every hole once again, reconnected the propane and turned on the gas valve and within a second the entire burner lit and produced a perfect blue flame with no yellow tipping and not jumping off the burner! Temp climbed to 475F in less than 7 mins (no load) before tuning it down, by design I believe this is something that has to be done annually if the BBQ gets a lot of use and as a licensed gas fitter, would not recommend drilling out an orifice or installing a high pressure regulator to solve this problem with these Weber portable BBQ...

      Adrian, I have replaced the regulator and cleaned each hole in the burner only to have the same problem a year later. The upgrade in this video cures the problem.

    • @adrianmeilleur9503
      @adrianmeilleur9503 3 месяца назад

      @@happycamper5900 I understand what you are saying but the problem is with the design of the appliance where there is no real protection from grease or other stuff from falling on the burner so the holes however slow become constricted and will not light, nothing to do with the pressure regulator. Propane appliances are designed to operate at 11" WC roughy 1/3 psi now if you apply say 29"WC or 1 psi pressure to the valve, eventually it won't end well, modifying a gas appliance is illegal and could affect your property insurance in a worst case senecio. I can measure the exact clearance drill size or reamer if that helps someone.

    Vert good video thanks. However gas fittings don't need teflon or any other tape . Tape on the threads might prevent the tapered mating surfaces of the fittings from making perfect contact. Also the tape will harden and deteriorate over time and could eventually cause leaks and risk of fire.

    This is the affordable way to go without running into issues of the knob crashing into the new regulator, or weight issues on the valve (if you just replaced the regulator at the same spot). Also cheaper and faster to replace the hose with regulator if it happens again. You can also still buy an adapter if you need to use the can with the hose. Replacing the regulator definately fixed my flame issue.

    ❤❤❤❤ how you brag about “not needing lighter fluid ever again” but you lighter barley works, Guess you need a new lighter instead of just reusing a Zippo or jet lighter. Yea they need to be refilled, re-flinted/ wick n cotton from time to time (refill most common) but they can last a lifetime….. I personally use bic like yourself did as they are the best DISPOSABLE lighter however INVEST IN A ZIPPO OR JET REUSE NOT DISPOSE

    i also tried opening the tank slow method...didn't work. It lights and it seems like it's going to last and stay strong but after 10 minutes or so, it starts puttering out to the point where you really can't cook anything. The regulators on these things are just faulty - i use my grill about 30 times a year for a couple of hours at a time and I've noticed after the year mark, the regulators go bad. Weber is supposed to send me a new one at least so I don't have to get a new grill

    So I followed all your instructions, went to Home Depot, found the 3 parts and put it all together. Fired up my grill connected to a 20 lb tank and new hose regulator. Absolutely amazing difference. Previously my grill took 10 minutes to reach 375 and would go no higher. Now flames coming through all holes and reached the max temp in like 2 minutes. Thank you so much for instructions and showing those part numbers. I would advise people to order the parts online at home depot if they you don't want to go searching the bins at home depot but I did find what I needed. I'm back grilling again! BTW, I ordered a regulator hose on Amazon that actually came with an adjustable dial which controls the flow of propane but plenty to choose from on Amazon.
